Murillo's Surf & Bodyboard Academy
A surf and bodyboard school in São Pedro de Moel since 2006, certified by the Portuguese Surf Federation, teaching daily and moving to Peniche or Figueira da Foz when the home beach is too wild.
Murillo's Surf and Bodyboard Academy started in 2006 and is based on Largo das Antigas Serracoes in São Pedro de Moel, the small seaside village in the municipality of Marinha Grande. The open sea here can be wild and tough, especially off season, so lessons then move to Peniche or Figueira da Foz.
Lessons and levels
Surf and bodyboard lessons every day, in several packages, with levels from N1 (beginners) through N1+ (transition) to N2 (intermediate) and coaching that can go much further. There is a bodyboard training centre and a bodyboard competition team, and summer surf clinics.
Coaches and safety
The school is registered with Turismo de Portugal (no. 413/2010) and certified by the Federação Portuguesa de Surf, with a team of certified coaches; personal accident and liability insurance cover every service. The founder is a Level 3 surf coach and Level 2 bodyboard coach, and teaches surfing at the Polytechnic of Leiria.
Rental and shop
Surfboards, wetsuits, SUPs and bodyboards for rent, a surf shop, and a livestream of the beach. Surf trips and camps with accommodation are planned.
