Moana Surf School
A family-oriented surf school on Guincho beach, 30 minutes from Lisbon, established in 2003, with small-group lessons, kids' camps and private coaching.
Moana Surf School has been teaching on Guincho beach since 2003, from its base on the Estrada do Abano, about 30 minutes from Lisbon. Guincho is an exposed, powerful beach, so for kids and families the school also teaches at Carcavelos, the gentler beach on the Cascais train line.
Lessons and levels
Small-group lessons, including beginner-friendly groups, and private one-to-one coaching, with waves for beginners, intermediates and advanced surfers. Kids and family lessons start from age five, and a kids' surf camp runs in the holidays from May to September.
Equipment
Board and wetsuit rental, and a surf shop on site.
Beyond the surf
Yoga, stand-up paddle, kitesurfing, mountain biking, boat trips, horse riding and climbing can be arranged, plus group and corporate events. Lessons run year-round, in English, Portuguese, German, Spanish, French and Russian.
