Carcavelos Surf School has taught on the city's home beach since 2001, one stop from Lisbon on the Cascais train line. Certified by the Federação Portuguesa de Surf and Turismo de Portugal, with board, wetsuit and coaching included in every lesson. Carcavelos is a sandy, forgiving beach break, which is why most of Lisbon learns here; it gets busy, and the water quality dips for a day or two after heavy rain.
