Fatum Surfboards
Premium custom surfboards designed, shaped and tested in Peniche by Gero Tragatschnig. CAD design, machine cut, hand-finished, with the shaper in direct contact with each customer.
Fatum is Gero Tragatschnig's board label, run out of Peniche. Every board is CAD-designed, machine-shaped and hand-finished, with more than 14,000 boards shaped, and Gero deals with each order himself rather than across a shop counter.
The range
It runs from the all-round Gold Standard through the wide, high-volume Short & Wide for smaller or weaker days, the more progressive Special Issue, the Relaxed Fit for everyday surfing, and a longboard line. The boards are designed around the waves Fatum tests on, so Supertubos and the Baleal peaks are effectively the testing ground.
Ordering
Custom dimensions are the norm. Contact Fatum through the website to talk through a board for your surfing and the waves you ride most.

Cantinho da Baia
The most sheltered corner of the Baleal bay, tucked against the Peniche side. Small, soft and forgiving, and the spot most Peniche schools use for a first lesson. Rarely flat.
BeginnersYear-round; small and gentle May to AugustMolhe Leste
The beach break next to the eastern breakwater at Peniche, just along from Supertubos. A more forgiving wave than its famous neighbour, and the spot the crowd moves to when Supertubos is out of control or blown out by the north wind.
