Molhe Leste

The beach break next to the eastern breakwater at Peniche, just along from Supertubos. A more forgiving wave than its famous neighbour, and the spot the crowd moves to when Supertubos is out of control or blown out by the north wind.
Molhe Leste sits just east of Supertubos, tucked against the harbour breakwater on the south shore of the Peniche peninsula. It shares the same swell window as Supertubos but the breakwater and the angle give it a different, generally friendlier character.
The wave
Peaks form along the sand with rights and lefts. It is punchy and can barrel on its day, but it is more rideable and less consequence-heavy than Supertubos, which makes it a good option for intermediates who want Peniche power without the Supertubos crowd and closeouts.
Its real value
Wind and size shelter. The peninsula and the breakwater block a northerly wind that ruins the exposed breaks, and when Supertubos is simply too big, Molhe Leste is often a workable size. That is when it gets busy.
When
Autumn to spring, W to SW swell, mid tide. It also picks up south swell in summer that Supertubos does not see.
