Prainha

A small, sheltered cove on the Peniche peninsula that stays surfable when the exposed breaks are out of hand. A calm, forgiving wave used by schools on bigger days.
Prainha is a pocket-sized beach tucked into the north side of the Peniche peninsula, close to the town. Cliffs on either side shelter it from the north and north-west, which is exactly why it matters.
The wave
Small, soft and slow, breaking onto sand between two rock outcrops. It is never going to be the best wave of your trip, but on a day when Supertubos is closing out and Baleal is a washing machine, Prainha is often a clean, rideable size.
Who it is for
Beginners, and schools bring lessons here when the main learner beaches at Baleal are too big or too windy. Improvers use it as a small-day longboard option.
When
Any W to NW swell, sheltered from a northerly wind, tide from low to mid.
