Portimao Surf Clube runs from a base by the marina at Praia da Rocha, founded and led by Francisco Canelas, a national champion. It teaches surf, SUP and bodyboard to the public, with lessons and rentals bookable without joining, and also offers membership with facility access and an adaptive-surfing programme. The central Algarve beaches here are gentle and warm, good for a first week.
